Research Enterprise Systems (RES) participated in the second edition of the African Public Square Debates and Experts’ Meeting on Alternative Futures for ECOWAS at 50, with Paul Yao Ahiave and Rume Dave-Uwode representing the Humans of RES as observers and panelists.
Held under the theme “Reimagining West African Regional Cooperation and Integration: Alternative Futures,” the engagement reflected on ECOWAS’s 50-year journey—its achievements, challenges, and its relevance to citizens across the region. Participants emphasized the growing need to shift from a primarily bureaucratic structure toward an “ECOWAS of Peoples,” one that responds directly to the lived realities and aspirations of West Africans.
The discussions strongly align with RES’s mission to generate credible research and actionable insights that strengthen institutions, inform policy, and support inclusive governance across Africa.
As regional conversations continue to shape the future of cooperation and integration, Research Enterprise Systems (RES) remains committed to contributing thought leadership, evidence, and expertise toward building a more people-centered and resilient West African region. When research meets dialogue, meaningful progress becomes possible.
